New Initiative to Bring Wisconsin Doctors, Researchers and Engineers Together

In an effort to get engineers to work more closely with doctors and researchers, a new initiative named the Biomedical Technology Alliance has formed with the goal of creating new technologies, products and ultimately, companies in the state, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The initiative is being organized by TechStar, a Milwaukee agency that assists start-up tech businesses. The Alliance will seek $10 million or more in grants from state and federal government and businesses to finance some of the most promising projects. Before raising money, the Alliance will bring together researchers, doctors and engineers from Marquette University, the Medical College of Wisconsin, the Milwaukee School of Engineering and the University of Wisconsin campuses at Milwaukee and Parkside. The effort is in response to successes neighboring states have had with similar projects.
